Honda N600
The tiny Honda that took on the world — and won
Overview
The N600 was Honda's first car exported to international markets, including a small number sent to Australia. Based on the N360 but with a larger 598cc twin-cylinder engine to meet non-kei regulations, it was a genuine curiosity — a motorcycle company's idea of a car. Lightweight, high-revving and front-wheel drive, it was unlike anything else on the road in 1969.
The N600 arrived in Australia in very limited numbers around 1969-1970, making it one of the first Hondas ever officially sold here. Distributed through dealers including Adelaide Honda Cars at 124 Wakefield St, Adelaide. It was a curiosity more than a volume seller — a tiny, high-revving machine that gave Australian buyers their first taste of Honda's engineering philosophy.
