The Jazz arrived in Australia in 2002 as a replacement for the City, and it was an immediate hit. The first-generation GD model introduced Honda's Magic Seats, a fold-flat rear seat system that could create a completely flat load floor or a tall cargo space. At its peak, the Jazz was one of the top-selling light cars in Australia, competing with the Toyota Yaris, Mazda2, and Suzuki Swift. Honda Australia discontinued the Jazz in 2021 as part of its transition to the agency model and a streamlined lineup focused on SUVs. The fourth-generation GR model, sold overseas with a hybrid e:HEV powertrain, was never offered in Australia. Honda has repeatedly ruled out bringing the Jazz back, citing the declining light car segment. When discontinued, it was priced from $18,690 before on-road costs.
