Honda CR-Z
The hybrid sports coupe that dared to be different
Overview
The CR-Z was Honda's attempt to revive the CR-X spirit with a hybrid powertrain a 6-speed manual hybrid sports coupe unlike anything else on the market. Officially sold in Australia from 2010, it combined a 1.5L IMA hybrid system with a choice of manual or CVT transmission. Polarising but genuinely fun, it remains the only manual hybrid sports car ever sold new in Australia.
The CR-Z launched in Australia in 2010 to considerable interest. The concept of a manual hybrid sports coupe was genuinely novel and Honda marketed it as a spiritual successor to the CR-X.
