Honda CR-X
The lightweight sports coupe that defined 80s Honda
Overview
The CR-X was Honda's lightweight sports coupe of the 1980s a two-seater built on the Civic platform but stripped back for maximum driving enjoyment. In Australia it arrived as the Civic CR-X, offering a high-revving SOHC engine, razor-sharp handling and a distinctive fastback body. The Si variant with fuel injection was the one to have. It remains one of the most beloved Hondas ever sold here.
The CR-X arrived in Australia in 1983 as the Civic CR-X, positioned as a sporty companion to the Civic hatchback. It found an enthusiastic audience among younger buyers who wanted something light and fun without the price of a European sports car.
